Believe or not some people lack the ability to smell things. The inability to smell things is called
Anosmia. However, some people are just “nose blind,” which is defined as: The gradual
acclimation to the smells of one’s home, car, or belongings, in which the affected does not
notice them (even though their guests do).
How many times do you ask a friend or family, do they smell something in your home or worst, if
they ask you what is it that they are smelling?

Overtime, your senses no longer smell pet odors, mold cigarette smoke, etc… that you’re
constantly exposed to. It seems that long term smells (pet odors, mold cigarette smoke, etc… )
become harder to smell, but short term smells like recently fried bacon, fresh brewed coffee or
Lindbergh cheese can be smelled immediately.
The best way to smell what your guest are smelling is to do a sniff test after you return from
your vacation or returning home after an extended stay away.
Before going on vacation, sniff each room right before you leave. When you return from your
vacation, go to each room immediately and sniff each room. As simple as it sounds, it really
works
